Tables and tops

The brown tones and grain become part of the furniture. Arranging the boards lets you aim for a consistent colour or make more of the natural contrasts.

Furniture and bespoke details

For cabinet doors, drawers, legs and mouldings. Good workability helps create carefully shaped details; sanding and finishing bring out the grain.

Also for doors, stairs and panelling

Walnut is used for internal doors, wall panelling, stair treads and flooring. It is also used for turned objects and musical instruments, with pieces selected to suit the work.

The furniture photographs show work by third parties. This page concerns the supply of sawn timber.

Three forms to suit the job.

The form describes how the boards are supplied. Choose grades and dimensions according to the pieces you need to make.

Unedged boards
The natural edges are retained. Choose where to trim them according to the grain and the pieces you need.
Boules
Boards from the same log, kept in sequence. Useful when planning how to match colour and grain.
Square-edged boards
The edges have already been sawn straight. Widths still vary and are chosen to suit the components you need to make.

American walnut, normally steamed

We supply black walnut from the United States. Steaming darkens the paler outer wood and reduces its contrast with the brown heartwood. If you want a particular appearance, let us know in your enquiry.
