Single-layer spruce. Solid wood for your furniture.
Panels made with full-length strips, sanded and unvarnished, for furniture, shelves and desktops. Start with an edge-glued surface and choose how to cut and finish it for your project.

From panel to finished component
Furniture and fittings with the wood on show.
Spruce strips are glued side by side in a single layer. In full-length panels, the strips run the entire length: the grain and knots remain part of their appearance.

Cabinets, bookcases and shelves
Sides, dividers and shelves for bespoke interior furniture. The assembled panel lets you cut your components without first gluing individual boards together.
For shelves, choose the thickness and supports to suit the unsupported span and expected load.
An edge-glued spruce top; the desk frame is a separate construction.
Desks and other furniture tops
For tops and fittings where you want the light colour and natural grain of spruce. The sanded surface provides a base to prepare for your chosen finish.
Spruce is a soft timber: for heavily used surfaces, consider the resistance to dents and wear that your project needs.
The photographs show examples of edge-glued spruce in use. They are not Vela projects or samples of the material supplied.
The Vela range
Two panel sizes, each with its own thicknesses.
Thicknesses depend on panel size. Availability of the 5-metre panel needs to be checked.
Quantities, current availability and lead times are confirmed in the quotation. For cut-to-size pieces, specify a starting panel size if you have a preference.
Full panels or cut for your project.
You can request full panels or cutting to size. For cut pieces, send a list with length, width, thickness and quantity; specify the grain direction where it matters for assembly.
Single-layer panels retain the natural movement of solid wood: fixings and finishing need to account for changes in humidity.
