What you can make

Wood on show,
from wall panels to furniture.

A veneer is a thin sheet of wood applied to plywood. It lets you choose the appearance of the surface while keeping a base made of several layers.

Wall panelling and linings

For walls, alcoves and panelling in shops or offices. Large sheets let you cut several pieces and plan the grain pattern across the composition.

Furniture components

Visible cabinet backs, drawer bottoms and panels fitted into framed doors. Useful when you want to carry the same wood species through different parts of the furniture.

Door facings

For giving a door a wood surface by applying the panel to a suitable structure. The facing is one part of the door and needs to be coordinated with its frame, edges and finish.

Designing with 4 and 8 mm panels

These thicknesses are intended for linings and components. Piece size, support and fixing need to suit the project.

The look of your project

Choose the wood species.

From pale woods to walnut and oak with knots. Colour and grain vary naturally: for adjacent pieces, we agree the appearance you need.

A practical choice

How many faces
will remain visible?

A/R and A/B describe how the two sides of the panel are faced.

A/R · 4 and 8 mm

One decorative face

For linings and components with a hidden reverse. The 4 mm panel has a balancing veneer on the reverse; the reverse construction of the 8 mm panel must be confirmed for the supply.

A/B · 8 mm

Both faces in the same species

For pieces visible from both sides. The B face has a lower commercial grade than the A face: we agree the appearance required for each side.

The Vela range

Thicknesses and sizes.

These variants are part of our normal range. Availability of the chosen combination, quantities and lead times are confirmed in the quotation.

The core is generally poplar plywood. The 4 mm panel typically has five layers; construction and actual sheet size are checked against the supply.

From the surface
to the finished piece.

A veneered surface does not mean it is already varnished. Preparation, edge treatment and finishing should suit the intended use and appearance.
